Everything about camping pitch photos on Pitchviewer
What is Pitchviewer?
Pitchviewer is a free community platform where campers share real photos of individual campsite pitches across Europe. Learn more on the About Pitchviewer page. See exactly what your pitch will look like before you book — no brochure gloss, just the reality of the spot.
How do I find photos of a specific camping pitch?
Search for the campsite via Camping search, open the campsite page and click the pitch number or the spot on the map. All camper-uploaded photos of that specific pitch appear, along with details about sun, ground surface and season.
Why should I look at camping pitch photos before I book?
Booking-site photos usually show the campsite's best angle, not your specific pitch. Real pitch photos tell you whether the spot is level, has shade, offers privacy and whether the access suits your caravan, motorhome or tent. Our blog shares real stories from fellow campers.
Can I add photos of my own pitch?
Yes. Create a free account, tap the plus button and choose Add pitch — or jump straight to Camping search to open your campsite. Upload your photo, enter the pitch number and add details like season, time of day and ground surface. You help the next camper and earn community points.
My campsite isn't listed yet — can I add it myself?
Yes. Via Add campsite you search the campsite in Google Maps and create it with one click, including address, town and country. From there you can add pitches and photos straight away.
What exactly is a pitch?
A pitch (also called a stand or camping spot) is the individual place on a campsite where one tent, caravan or motorhome stays. Each pitch usually has a unique number — that's the number we use on Pitchviewer to link photos to the right spot. Try Camping search to see examples.
Are the photos on Pitchviewer trustworthy?
All photos are uploaded by real campers, not by campsites or marketing agencies. Faces and license plates are automatically blurred, and moderators review new uploads. Spot something off? Report it via the plus button and choose Report a problem, or get in touch via our contact page.
Does Pitchviewer cost anything?
No. Searching, browsing campsites and viewing camping pitch photos is completely free. Creating an account and uploading your own photos is free too.
Which countries have camping pitch photos?
Pitchviewer focuses on all of Europe. Popular regions include France, Italy (Tuscany, Lake Garda), Croatia, Spain, Germany and the Netherlands. Coverage grows every day as campers add new campsites and pitches.
How does Pitchviewer help me pick the perfect campsite pitch?
Alongside photos, each pitch has practical filters: sunny or shaded, level or sloped, ground surface (grass, gravel, hardstanding), size and distance to sanitary facilities. Combine that with reviews from other campers and you pick your spot with confidence — before you book. Start with Camping search.
Can I claim my campsite as an owner?
Yes. Claiming is free. After our check you can edit the basic details and upload a site map as a PDF. Everything is explained on For campsite owners.
What does a free claim give me?
Editing the campsite's basic details and one site map in PDF. Guest pitch photos stay visible.
Are there paid options for campsites?
Yes, later. Think of a featured spot on the homepage, an interactive site map, videos, richer details and priority for your own photos. Pricing isn't set yet. Get in touch via For campsite owners.
How do I get in touch as an owner?
Through the form on the owner page or the contact page. Messages go to sales@pitchviewer.com.
Pitchviewer as an app on your phone
You can add Pitchviewer to your home screen as an app. On Android (Chrome): tap 'Install Pitchviewer' or choose 'Install app' in the menu. On iPhone (Safari): tap Share ⬆️ and choose 'Add to Home Screen'. The app opens instantly without an address bar, and previously viewed pitches stay available offline.
